Information for current registrants on how to notify us of a criminal offence
This page is for chiropractors who are already registered with us.
If you are applying for initial registration or restoration to the register and need to declare a conviction or caution please click here.
You must notify us of any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, warnings or fixed penalty notices (other than for road traffic offences) you receive within 7 days. If you fail to do so without a reasonable explanation, it may be treated as a fitness to practise matter.
You only need declare fixed penalty fines for traffic offences where they led to a disqualification.
If you have received a criminal conviction, caution, reprimand, warning or fixed penalty notice, you need to tell us about, please complete the form and return it to us with the following documentation:
We consider having a police charge, caution, conviction, reprimand or warning as a serious matter.
If you have been convicted of an offence our rules oblige us to automatically refer the case to our Investigating Committee, who will review the evidence provided and make a decision as to whether it should be referred to a full Professional Conduct Committee hearing.
If you have an offence other than a conviction the Registrar will review your case, taking into consideration all of the information you provided and then make a decision on whether or not it warrants a referral to the Investigating Committee. The Registrar will consider your own account of the circumstances that led to the offence, including any mitigating circumstances there may have been. The Registrar may decide on reviewing your case to refer it to the fitness to practice team.
If you notify us of any offence after 7 days from the date of the conviction, caution, reprimand, warning or fixed penalty notice, the case will automatically be referred to the Investigating Committee on that basis irrespective of the offence committed. This is because you made a declaration as part of your last application to us that you would inform us within 7 days.
